Environmental performance

each measure keeps its own boundary synthetic demo data

CO2e per hectare

below baseline
baseline 3.4 target 2.6 actual 2.9

t CO2e/ha · n=9 fields · IPCC tier 2 · farm-gate boundary · 2025 · opens to fuel, fertiliser and operations records

CO2e per tonne

below baseline
baseline 0.41 target 0.30 actual 0.36

t CO2e/t grain · per-tonne basis · same boundary, different denominator — kept separate from /ha by design

Nitrogen-use efficiency

above baseline
baseline 63% target 75% actual 71%

N in grain / N applied · n=9 fields · lab grain analysis + application records · 2025

Soil organic matter

next measure Aug
2021 · 3.6% 2023 · 3.9% 2025 · 4.1%

Long Meadow · LOI lab method held constant across measures · a method change would be annotated, not hidden

184 t CO2e
total GHG · farm-gate boundary · 2025 · n=9 fields
11,420 L
fuel · machinery logs · 2025 · vs 13,050 baseline

Why this module matters

These direct measures are the raw material for premium contracts, scheme payments and sustainability-linked finance. Each keeps its own calculation boundary and period; org-defined measures can be added beside them. The one thing this module will never produce is a single green score — that restraint is what makes the numbers usable as evidence.

Environmental rules: separate measures, separate boundaries, declared baselines and targets. Never silently pooled, never collapsed into a composite sustainability score. Missing measures are named, not estimated.
